Take The Motivation Quiz. You'll get personalised insights and practical tips to help you understand your motivation and find ways to sustain and improve it.

FAQs

Motivation is your drive to start, continue, or complete a task. It’s what moves you toward your goals, even small ones. For neurodivergent people, motivation can show up differently and fluctuate depending on environment, energy, interest, or overwhelm. That doesn’t mean you’re lazy. It means your brain has different needs.

The quiz helps you understand your current experience of motivation and self-efficacy across areas like confidence, enjoyment, pressure, and effort. It’s based on established psychological models, adapted to reflect how motivation can work for neurodivergent minds.

Taking the quiz can help you get clearer on where you’re thriving and where things feel harder right now. You’ll get personalised insights and tips based on your results, designed to support how your brain works, not how someone thinks it "should."

Your data is private. We won't share it with anyone. We may post generalised statistics to help others understand the neurodivergent community, but the information we share publicly will never be personal or identifiable.

Having personally struggled with my own motivation I recognised how difficult I found it to introspect on why I was struggling. Talking to other neurodivergent folks I realised that this is a common problem. I wanted to build something to help with this, and something that’s validating, practical, and built with compassion.

There’s no single right answer. Motivation doesn’t always stay in one box. What lifts you up in one part of your life can affect how you feel in another. It’s totally normal to feel very different at work than you do at home, in your hobbies, or when managing your personal life.

You may want to go with whatever feels most relevant or top of mind today. Another is to keep more than one part of your life in mind and try to balance your responses. If your motivation varies depending on the situation, that’s actually useful to notice. Trust your gut and if you're stuck feeling pulled in different directions choose “neither agree nor disagree.”

That’s completely normal as motivation can shift a lot depending on what’s in front of you. Some things light you up. Others might feel heavy or draining.

You might focus your answers on whatever is taking up the most space in your life right now. Or you can think across a few different things, whether that’s work, caregiving, personal goals, struggles. You can give answers that feel balanced across all sides.

There’s no need to get it perfect. If you feel stuck between two different answers, you can always choose “neither agree nor disagree.” This quiz is here to help you reflect, not to box you in.
